SOP of Y_maze test



Locomotor activity, persistence (restriction of interest), spatial learning and memory are examined. Apparatus of Y maze consists of arms which lengths are equal as illustrated in figure below. A mouse is put into terminal of arm C (see figure) in the apparatus. Spontaneous locomotor activity, number of entry into each arm, and alteration ratio are measured.



Experimental Design
Minimum number of animals: 7 per experimental group
Age at test: 12 weeks.
Sex: males

Procedure
1. Mice are habituated to testing room for 15 minute.
2. Place a mouse in terminal of arm C (see figure).
3. Measure locomotor activity and alteration rate (%) for 10 minutes.


Notes
Please ensure that the mice are not handled prior to the test, except handling for cage change.
